Sushi Moto - Double Diamond
We tried Sushi Moto in Double Diamond Village tonight and all I can say is WOW!
Right off the bat - when you walk into Sushi Moto you no longer feel like you are eating in a strip mall. The configuration and design is quite tasteful and better than most other sushi resturants in Reno. There is a large sushi bar in the center of the resturant with plenty of seating around the walls. The ambient/trance music makes for a good ambience as does the rest of the design inside. The flat screen tvs on the wall, while nice, do make it seem a little ’sports-barish’ although it seems sushi is a male favored cuisine.
The quality of the fish was excellent and the stations were very clean. The nigiri sushi was amazing and the sheer selection of rolls was awesome. Unlike the standard Mountain, Jasons and Crystal Shrimp rolls that EVERY place in reno has there were some very different options here. We found several rolls that had macadamia nuts in them which was very tasty.
Once we sat at the bar we were very quickly tended to by a waitress and we immediately noticed that there were only a few people in the resturant (6PM) but a whole lot of Sushi chefs (6). We both went with ‘all-you-can-eat’ and a couple Sapporo’s.
After ordering our first roll we realized why there were so many chefs - it started getting incredibly busy. The first roll we had (Friday Night roll) was amazing - we immediately knew this was better than most of the other places in town. Not only was the taste and texture excellent, but the presentation was positively artistic. Several rolls and tempura later we found ourselves very full but very happy. Honestly, whether your a nigiri person or a roll person you will be very happy here.
The cost for the all you can eat was at the higher end ($21.95) but it was well worth it. Between the two all-you-can-eats and a couple Sapporo’s a peice it came to around $60. Well worth it.
We HIGHLY recommend Sushi Moto - certainly one of the best sushi places in town!

Said this at 12:53pm:I agree, this place does have good food, but be warned about the often load music (rap and the like). Other then the music this is a great place for sushi.

Said this at 12:37pm:Really? I thought the sushi was subpar and not very fresh. Low end sushi for a high end price. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. At least we can conclude they are inconsistant.
